One of CALA’s most important functions is advocating on your behalf at the Capitol and across the state, and your participation in this effort is crucial.
Advocates in Action is an interactive program to facilitate your advocacy efforts on behalf of Assisted Living, Memory Care, and Continuing Care Retirement Communities (CCRCs). By signing up, you will receive monthly emails with action items, resources, and helpful tips…all the tools you need to be an effective advocate.
Why is Advocacy Important?
As boomers approach retirement, the “silver tsunami” of California’s aging population will increasingly come into play in state policy. As experts in the field, CALA members have the power to educate legislators and fellow citizens about the beneficial impact on the lives of residents.
By signing up to be an Advocate in Action, you agree to advocate for CALA throughout the year through the completion of these action items:
- Attend Advocacy Day
- Attend Day in Your District
- Host Your Legislators
- Give a Voice of Assisted Living presentation
What Does Advocacy Look Like?
As an Advocate in Action, you will be part of a dynamic movement to ensure that Assisted Living, Memory Care, and CCRCs continue to be a popular and successful model of care for seniors today and tomorrow. Your education and relationship-building efforts will be shored up by those of fellow members and CALA policy staff, and your voice will increase the power of CALA’s message.
